Abstract

The aim of the present Thesis IS to investigate the
decomposition course of lanthanum oxalate decahydrate
La2(C204)3.10H20 and lanthanum acetate hydrate
La(CH3COO)3.1.5H20 to the onset of La203 as an examples of solid state reaction decomposition of single solid. Also investigate of the solid state reaction between strontium carbonate SrC03 and (pure and doped) lanthanum oxide La203 for formation of strontium lanthanum oxide La4Sr07 ,both oxide and mixed oxides are of prime industrial and technological importance. Lanthanum oxalate and lanthanum acetate were chosen for three reasons:
1- As an examples of simple salts to calculate the kinetic parameters non - isothermally.
2- No reported data in the literature concernmg the decomposition of them.
3- The obtained oxide finds an interest as a catalyst for methane dimerization, alcohol dehydration etc.
To accomplish these objectives, the following have performed:
1. SrC03 was used as precursor for SrO. The choice of these carbonates was based on several considerations, the most important of which is their thermal stability up to > 930°C. Accordingly, a follow up of solid state reactions occurring at < 930°C can be done by monitoring the weight loss due to CO2 evolution.
