Abstract
A total of 400 samples (milk, cheese, meat and water were collected from different localities of Sharkia Governorate.
The samples were examined for presence of Escherichia coli 026 and 0111 serogroups and the isolates were confirmed biochemically and serologically. The confirmed isolates were detected for antibiotic susceptibility and plasmid profiling of 026 and 0111 isolates were made.
The obtained results were summarized as follows:
1- Examination of 100 milk samples collected from cattle from different localities at Sharkia Governorate, searching for the presence of Escherichia coli 026 and 0111. The results revealed that (3) E. coli isolated 026 and (2) E. coli 0111 were isolated from 100 milk samples in a percentage of (4.2%) and (2.8%) respectively with untyped strains of E. coli were 65 with a percentage of 92.8%.
2- Examination of 100 cheese samples, collected from Karish, Domty and Veta cheese from different localities at Sharkia Governorate. The results revealed that 46 samples of karish cheese contain (4) E. coli 026 and (6) E. coli 0111 in percentage of (10%) and (15%) respectively. While other untyped strains of E. coli were 30 with a percentage of 75%. Concerning Domty and Veta cheese were voided from E. coli 026 and 0111.
