Abstract

in the present reSearch an exprimental work is carried out to study the effect of stabiliZer geometry on the Characteristics of combustion heat liberated downstream of these stabilizers which are located coaxially with furnace axis. The experimental work is carried out on a horizontal cyclindrical water cooled combustion chamber of 300 mm inner diameter 440 mm outer diameter and 2200 mm length. the combustion chamber Is fed by air through a double horizontal entrance with 30 inclimation 10 the chamber aXIs, and fired with commerical liquefied petroleum gas. wich is issuing from a fuel nozzle located as the Center of the stabilizer. Different stabiliLzer diSCs, 90° solid COne and 90 hollow cone stabilizers are used to stud the characteristics of the or th hcalljllelatlOIl along lh fheat liberation along the furnace downstream the Stabilizers. mixing studies under hot conditions are difficult and for this reason the degree of Completeness of mixing between the fuel and air Streams is expressed here in terms of the characteristics of heat liberation due to combustion and its distibution downstream of the Stabilizer. The total heat liberated up to a certain section of the furnace is calculated from the enthalpy of gases and heat losses tofurnace walls up to this Section. Thc gas temberature is measured by suction pyrometer, the total heat losses to the furnance Wall is obtiained from the rate and tempperature rise of the cooling Water. on the basis of experimental measurements and the licterature survey the theoretical model was constructed, to calculate the Spesies Concentration (co2 and o2) along the combustion champer in radial and axial direction.
