The traffic accidents are considered a national problem, because it eliminates the thousands of souls life every year. This directly influences security and economical conditions of countries.
No doubt that, there is a safety system on roads, it is a group of factors concerning human being, the road user , the characters of vehicles, characterization of roads, environment elements and climate condition during journeys.
As for what mentioned, this study aims to search and evaluate the existent status of accidents problem on roads in Egypt and determine every one of its fundamental reasons which cause it. As well as (road, vehicles and human being) to achieve the aim to improve maximum level of safety. Also, to recognize the present defaults and present the solutions needed to develop the status quo to reduce accidents on roads, then suggesting the procedures which must be followed of each reason to avoid accidents causes which affect safety level.
Random samples of vehicles had been checked in different periods and time in main El-Minia governorate roads and the data collected from vehicle sample have been separated, classified and analyzed for about 600 vehicles which proved as following :
• There is an obvious defect at maintenance and maintenance processes related to lightness and signs, different lamps which cover vision and warning drivers against other vehicles. So, vehicle accidents may be increased.
• Although there is a law to punish who doesn’t use the seat belt, some vehicles still without such belt by abut 83.13% for the right side, and 14.96% for the left side.
• Extinguisher not exist in 9.74 % of vehicle samples and not available or reachable in 20.17%.
• It is found that 9.2% of all vehicles without mirrors, in addition to 5.7 % of vehicles with bad mirror.
• General technical state of the tire was found that 39.5% are medium state, and 4% are bad ones.
So it is recommended the following:
• Establishing technical traffic campaigns in the roads to check warning, protection, and safety parts in the vehicles specially the following:
Seat belt, tires state and their inflation pressures, light vehicle system especially the back, glass and glass wipers especially for buses, gauges and pointers in dashboard.
• Discontinue working unsafely and in dangerous condition vehicles in the Egyptian roads and close periodic technical check for medium condition vehicles and do not give vehicle license more than one year.
• Also It is recommended starting periodical strict traffic campaigns on driving licenses of the vehicle drivers especially the small and standard pickup trucks as more than 66% and 37% of them respectively, drive with invalid licenses for their kind of vehicles.
• Change the main road Cairo-Aswan in Upper Egypt to highway or increase its safety by increasing number of lanes, canceling right connection with subways, delineation the road, increasing signs and guide boards.
