Abstract

Ewing’s sarcoma is a distinct, highly aggressive sarcoma of bone that occurs predominantly in the long tubular bones of the extremities, but also may affect the pelvis, ribs and other bones .
Aim of Study: The aim of this study is to evaluate thc rolc of magnctic resonance imaging as a diagnostic and pre-treatment staging method of Ewing’s sarcoma.
Patient and J\1ethods: This study was done during the pcriod [rom Deccmbcr 2005 to April 2007, 28 patients were examined using the magnetic resonance imaging, with complemcntary plain radiography in some of those cascs. Magnetic resonance imaging is a proven and well-established imaging modality in the detection, evaluation, assessment, staging, and follO\v-up of tumors of the musculoskeletal system. Properly performed and interpreted, MRl not only cont ’ibutes to diagnosis but also serves as an important guide to treatment planning, prognosis, and follow-up of tumors.
