Abstract

The present study was conducted during the period extended from the beginning of April 2008 till the end of March 2009 to examine farm animals for the prevalence of myiasis infestation and investigation the available flies causing myiasis using 3 types of baited traps, seasonal variations, meteorological factors and morphobiological studies for identification of myiasis producing flies in different localities at Sharkia province.
In the present study, 547 cattle, 467 buffaloes, 35 sheep and 45 goats from farms and individual rearing cases were examined for presence of wound myiasis infestation at the different localities at Sharkia province. As well as, 380 slaughtered camel heads were examined for presence of Cephalopina titillator larvae and 307 slaughtered sheep heads were examined to detect Oestrus ovis larvae. species ranged from 2-7 days and 5-22 days respectively when the mean temperature was 15.7-29 ◦C and the RH 54-64%.
