Abstract
The work described in this thesis is dealing with synthesis and characterization of some new co-polyhydrazides containing-carbohydrate unit and having pendant groups and flexibizing spacer units and poly (1,3,4-oxadiazoles). (chapter II) includes the general methods and the experimental details of the candidate’s work. The candidate discusses his own work in (chapter III) which comprises the synthesis of the aforementioned types of polymers. Carbohydrate-containing polyhydrazides were prepared using low-temperature solution polycondensation of 2,3,4,5-tetra-O-acetyl galactaroyl dichloride with a variety of dibasic aromatic acid dihydrazides namely : 5-(4-nitrobenzoylamino) isophthalic acid dihydrazide, 5-[2-(4- nitrophenoxy) acetylamino] isophthalic acid dihydrazide, 5-methoxyiso-phthalic acid dihydrazide and 5-octyloxyisophalic acid dihydrazide, respectively in DMF.
