Abstract

The present study have been investigated the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics through a U—tube bend. Yhis investigation has been studied for both numerical and experimental relevance at constrant wall temperature the numericalstudy is based on the solution of complete govering equations using the near-wall two equation K-3 model of turbulence (present mode). The present numerical results have been compared with those predicated using the standard model of turbulence for air flow in a square duct with a U-bend,these results include the velocity,temperature and nusselt number distributions.this comparison is based on the published experimental data of curvature ratio equal to 3.357 and reynoldsnumber equal to 55.800,where the numerical prediction for turbulent flow using the present model give abetteragreement with experimental data for both fluid flow and heat transfer specially in the near wall region.
The experimental study was performed to obtainthe temberature distribution for water flow in U-tube bend with different curvature ratios and at different Reynolds numbers the experimental data were obtained at constant wall temperature,the numerical prediction by the present model show a good agreement with this experimental data
This investigation studied numerically the effect of curvature ratio and Reynolds number on fluid flowand heat transfer characteristics for water flow through a U-tube bend also.
