Abstract Aim of the work: 1- Estimation of the plasma levels of both leptin and insulin like growth factor-1 (IGF-1). 2- Estimation of plasma leptin concentration in large for gestational age neonates compared with these that are of normal birth weight and neonates who are small for gestational age with measurements of maternal plasma leptin. 3- Estimation of correlation between plasma insulin like growth factor-1 concentration in large for gestational age compared with those of normal birth weight and small for gestational age with measurement of maternal plasma insulin like growth factor-1. Conclusion We conclude that detection of plasma leptin and IGF-1 in neonates may be considered as indicator for guarded prognosis and may necessitate further evaluation. Recommendation Further studies for leptin and IGF-1 hormones are needed taking in consideration a more number of cases, more periods follow up. |
