Abstract

All patients will be evaluated clinically and investigated by mammography. The malignant cases will be investigated for distant pathological failure by chest x-ray, bone scan and abdominal ultrasonography. The treatment of the patients will be radical surgery for operable cases and excision biopsy for benign lesions and inoperable malignant cases.
All specimens will be examined histopathologically and estrogen receptors and progesterone receptors will be defined.
From this study we conclude that:
P53 immunostaining has been correlated significantly with histopathologic grades in invasive duct carcinoma and histopathological tumor types; invasive lobular carcinoma accumulates P53 protein in a very low incidence in contrast to invasive duct carcinoma, this difference may be need further study to elucidates its significance.
The use of immunohistochemical detection of P53 protein over expression is a simple, useful and reproducible technique.
The use of P53 as marker of tumor aggressiveness in breast carcinoma needs a larger series with a longer follow up.
