Abstract Pregnancy is a time for growth and additi onal demand f or nutrients.Pregnancy is the mo st nutritionally demanding of woman’s life.Body needs enough nutrients every day to support the gr owth of t he growing fetu s.All the nourishment needed comes from the mother,either t hrough the foods she eats or t he supplements This study aimed at improvement of nutritional and health status of pregnant women and their i nfants,beside usi ng available and somehow cheap fruits in enhancing and improving health and nutritional status of pregnant women. The study started on Decemb er 2005 to May 2006 at Shobra-Khalfon Hospital,and El-Rahep Hospita l Sh ibin El- Kom,M inufiya Governor ate,(age20-40 years old),normal pregnant women. Each group was fed a diet for 120 consecutive days. The study included forty eight normal pregnant women.All pregnant women i n this st udy were divided into 4 equal groups (12 for each as follow: 1-Control group (CG):The received only normal diets . 2-Pomegranate group (PG):The received normal diet besi de (150g/day )Pomegranate for 120 consecutive days . 3-Apricot groups (A.G):Subjects received normal diets beside. |
