Abstract

Obesity is a serious health hazard,its prevalence is increasing and constitutes an important public health problem. Obesity increases susceptibility to a number of diseases. The aim of present study was to investigate the effect of adding six types (6 sources)of calcium extracts (skim milk,cheddar cheese,soft wheat bran,coriander leaves,sesames white,vine grape leaves groups)individually at different levels (10%and 15%)to the diet of obese rats on weight reduction and modify lipid profile. Calcium sources samples were subjected to chemical analysis in order to determine moisture,protein,fat,ash,fiber and carbohydrates and particularly in calcium levels.Seventy –eight adult male albino rats Sprague Dawley Strain weighting 100-120 g,eight weeks age were divided into 13 groups of six rats each with nearly similar total weight and were housed individually in wire cages All rats were fed on hyperlipidemic diet for six weeks except one group was fed on standard diet (negative control)after hyperlipidemic diet all the group of rats were fed the experimental diet (stander)for 4 weeks according to the following groups 1-Group 1:(6 rats)control (-)fed on basal diet 2-Skim milk 10%group,(6 rats)fed basal diet with 10%skim milk 3-Skim milk15%group,(6 rats)fed basal diet with 15%skim milk 4-Cheddar cheese10%group,(6 rats)fed basal diet with 10% cheddar cheese.
