Abstract The aim of this work is to study whether HCV infection is associated with MPGN and other types of glomerulonephritis or not. In the present study some patients had glomerulonephritis not associated with cryoglobulinaemia. It is possible that hepatitis C virus may induce the formation of circulating immune complexes that precipitate in the kidney by the same mechanism suspected for many infectious diseases such as hepatitis B virus infection. These results documented a definite link between the occurrence of glomerulonephritis and HCV infection. Recommendations: 1- To study the role of quantitative HCV by PCR in association with glomerulonephritis. 2- To study the role of antiviral therapy for treatment of glomerulonephritis associated with HCV, especially the interferon. 3- Family genetic study for glomerulonephritis associated with HCV. |
