Abstract Aim of the work This work aims to determine the role of endothelin-1 gastrodeudenal ulcer and also the role of H. Pylori in development of gastrodeudenal ulcer. Conclusions and recommendations From the results of this study ET-1 plays an important role in the pathogenesis of peptic ulcer also H. Pylori plays an important role in pathogenesis of peptic ulcer either by itself or through enhancement of ET-1 production. Furthermore determination of plasma ET-1 may be beneficial in distinguishing between pain of peptic ulcer and non-ulcer dyspepsia helping in patient’s selection for endoscopy and it may be beneficial also in follow up of patients in different stages of ulcer activity specially those refusing repeated endoscopy. Lastly, ET-1 receptor antagonists may be considered, besides the traditional therapy, in the future management of peptic ulcer. |
