Abstract

Fuzzy Logic has been applied in wide areas, starting from
consumer electronics to robotics and industrial control systems. General-
purpose microcontrollers or Fuzzy Logic Processors usually do the
implementation of Fuzzy Logic Controller. They need special software to
develop fuzzy logic application from design, evaluation, implementation,
and tuning process.
The objective of the present research work is to introduce a
microcontroller based fuzzy logic system that can be adapted for most of
fuzzy logic applications. The system consists of a hardware target board
based on MCS’Sl microcontroller and supporting software running under
PC Windows.
The system is targeted for developing fuzzy logic based system
and it supports fuzzy logic design, evaluation, knowledge file generator
and downloading process to the target hardware via RS-232 serial
communication. Optimization methods are used to produce efficient code
that runs faster and uses less memory space in the target hardware.
The system was tested on various practical Fuzzy Inference
Systems (FIS) like ”Fuzzy channel equalizer”, ”Rapid Battery Chargers”,
and ”Automatic Focusing System”. The system speeds up the design
process of FIS by integrating the software and hardware into simple
package with the ability to simulate the system function on PC or in real
application.
