Abstract
Fish of the egyptian mediterranean waters comprises about 50 families (Al-kholy and el-wakeel,1975; Allam et al.;1998).mediterranean fish populations show moderate abundance and diversity as compared to the red sea,which is characterized by low fish a bundance and high diversity (Al-kholy,1972).only a small fraction of fish species dwelling in the mediterranean has siginficant commercial importance.
