Abstract

Aim of the work
The aim of this work is to evaluate the utility of Argyrophilic Nucleolar Organizer (AgNOR) technique in predicting the prognosis of bronchogenic carcinoma of the squamous cell type.
Conclusions
By holding a statistical comparison between AgNOR counts of different TNM stages and different histopathologic grades we found that: tumors at lower TNM stages have a lower AgNOR expression than those with more advanced stages by a statistically significant difference. Also tumors with higher histopathologic grades have higher AgNOR expression than those with lower grades by statistically significant difference.
Based on all the the above we concluded that AgNOR can be used as a prognostic index in bronchogenic carcinoma andc it can be of value in planning for treatment.
