Abstract

Aim of the study
To focus on the importance of Endothelin & its role in the pathogenesis of different pediatric renal diseases.
Conclusion
1- Plasma and urinary Et1 excretion were markedly increased in children suffering from nephritic syndrome and glomerulonephritis.
2- It still remains to be clarified whether enhanced Et1 synthesis in glomerular disease is a cause or a result of progressive renal dysfunction.
3- The increase in Et1 excretion in patients with nephritic syndrome, glomerulonephritis and renal failure suggests possible renal synthesis of Et1 this observation suggest a relation between albuminurea and synthesis and secretion of Et1.
4- The circulating Et1 is not the major factor determining blood pressure in glomerulonephritis.
5- The impaired renal function is not the main factor determining an increased Et1 in glomerulonephritis and renal failure and we suggest that the elevated plasma Et1 in different renal diseases may be secondary to vascular dysfunction.
6- The hypoalbuminaemia is not the main factor determining ascitis in renal diseases.
