Abstract the thesis focuses on the design of an integrated optical code division multiplexing encoder/decoder using the multimode interference MMI phased arry waveguides ( PHASAR)to reduce the structure size and avoid the lossy curvatures the MMI PHASAR is designed using a periodically segmented waveguides ( PSW ) in the array waveguide section a design example for an 8-wavelengths OCDMA encoder/decoder is presented the proposed structure demonstrates a very comparable performance with the conventional MMI PHASAR design with a size reduction ratio of about 23. |
