Abstract The most important factor that influences therapeutic outcome of cancer larynx in the development of metastasis of cervical lymph nodes. The prevalence of cervical lymph node metastasis in patients having cancer larynx without enlarged cervical lymph nodes is (31%). The prevalence is affected by number of pathological parameters including perineural vascular and muscle invasion and the incidence of metastasis increases with increasing the number of pathological parameters involved into the tumor. Elective neck dissection is still debatable issue, but most studies point to the use of selective neck dissection to attack the first echelon lymph nodes level II, III and IV with limited removal of non lymphatic structure in the neck where there is no lymph nodes enlargement. . |
