Abstract

Speech is an essential human activity, phonetic must be considered one of the cardinal factors contributing to the success of complete denture. It was meaningful to find out whether different anterior teeth positions would affect the phonetic mechanism of immediate complete denture wearers.
Five patients with minimum the upper and lower anterior teeth were selected. One denture was constructed for each patient and the anterior teeth position was changed at the same denture base by careful removal of the artificial teeth then setting of the same type, size and shade of artificial teeth by using autopolymerized acrylic resin was done. The upper anterior teeth were set first at the position previously occupied by the natural teeth using plaster index as a guide, secondary according to mechanical rules and finally according to neutral zone record. The phonetic was recorded and analyzed by computerized speech lab into spectrogram.
