Abstract
magnesium alloys have the advantage of high strength to weight ratio making it an ideal metal for automotive and aerospace applications where weight reduction is of significant concem. however magnesium alloys have a drawback with their poor atmospheric corrosion resistance and aleays thought of as rapidly corroding metals because of their active position in the electrochemical series therefor coating of magnesium alloys is essential for surface protection from corrosion.
