Abstract

Hepato-cellular Carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most worldwide common tumors, strongly linked to hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. However, the exact pathogenic mechanisms are still unclear. This study aimed at investigating certain biochemical (liver function tests), inflammatory (γ-GT, IL-6) and tumor marker (AFP) tests in infected HCV cases and HCV infected radiation workers.
The study included 65 cases divided into 3 groups: Group I (control groups),Group II (HCV infected patients)
and Group III (HCV infected radiation workers) The above groups were subdivided into subgroups accourding to ♀ and ♂ groups: group Ia and Ib (10 ♀ and 10 ♂ control groups) group IIa and b (15 ♀ and 15 ♂ HCV infected patients) and group IIIa and IIIb (5 ♀ and 10 ♂ HCV infected radiation workers).
In this study HCV was detected in group II and III (males and females) by Elisa 3rd generation and PCR to compare the % of positive conformation.
All patients and controls undergone investigation functions (ALT, AST, Alk. phosph., bilirubin (Total and Direct ),Albumin, γ-GT, cytokines levels (IL-6) and alfafetoprotien(AFP).
The Results of the present study showed 100% negative in control groups ( ♀ & ♂ ),100% positive by Elisa and PCR in group IIa. 20% false negative, 80%positive by Elisa in group IIb and IIIa. While 100% positive by PCR. Also 10% false negative, 90% positive were detected by Elisa in group IIIb
in comparison to 100% positive by PCR.
