The effect of two medicinal herbs (M,communis and Olibanum) on the two protozones (G.lamblia and T.vaginalis) was studied both in vitro and in vivo.
G.lamblia trophozoites were cultivated in TYI-S- 33 medium, herbal extracts significantly inhibited both
growth and adherence after, altered the parasite ultrastructure and in vivo, significantly decreased mean counts of trophozoites in intestinal washes. Also
histopathological improvement of the jejunum was evident.
T.vaginalis trophozoites were cultivated in TYM mediun, herbal extracts significantly inhibited both
growth and viability altered the parasite ultrastructure and in vivo, significantly decreased mean counts of
trophozoites in vaginal washes. Also, histopathological improvement of the vagina was obvious.
