Abstract
The aim of the present study was to describe the neuronal response characteristics of pivc and to study the convergence of vestibular signals with those of other modalities, in particular the influence of optokinetic stimulation. Data are presented from two squirrel monkeys (saimiri scireus). from this work the following conclusions are obtained: the parieto-insular vestibular cortex (pivc) is located in the squirrel monkey in a retroinsular area , corresponding approximately to the cytoarchitectonic region Ri of jones and burton ( 1976).
