Abstract
This systematic review will consider the epidemiology, diagnostic strategies, and outcome for both arterial and venous TE in neonates.And also this study will discusse congenital and acquired prothrombotic risk factors, diagnostic tests, long-term outcomes, and antithrombotic therapy for the management of thromboembolic diseases in newborns.
Newborns are the largest group of children to develop TE. Neonatal risk for TE begins in the womb and extends into postnatal life, influenced by a developing hemostatic system, systemic derangements associated with neonatal complications, and acquired risk factors from medical and surgical interventions. Although acquired risk factors for TE predominate, the role of congenital prothrombotic disorders is being elucidated through large registries. Despite advances in our understanding of the pathophysiology of TE in newborns, there remain significant deficiencies in our knowledge related to optimal therapy for TE in this group. Appropriately designed and controlled clinical trials are still needed to guide the management of TE and improve outcomes.
