Abstract Twenty eight screw shaped endosseous fixtures were installed in the mandibular canine region for forteen completly edentulous patlens. The flxtures were left for healing period of three months., Three fixtures were exfoliated during the healing period. Before fixture installation, the patients were divided into two group: Group I: Recieved mandibular overdenture retained by ball and socket attachment. Group II: Recieved mandibular overdenture supported by Hader bar joint attachment. After loading of the implants, all fixtures were successfully osseotntegrated throughout the study period. Clinical evaluation which include gingival recession, probing .depth, attachment level, plaque index and keratinized mucosal index were done two weeks, 6 months and 12 months after overdenture insertion, to study the peri-implant condition in both groups. During the first follow up interval (0-6) months, there was insignificant difference between the two groups in all measured periodontal parameters. During the second follow up interval (6-12) months, the gingival margin of the first group showed Inslgruftant recession, while that of the second group showed significant marginal |
