Abstract

The Egyptian-Israeli Peace Treaty under study is so important because it was signed between ”Egypt”, the largest and weightiest Arab State in all respects, and ”Israel”, the rejected party all over the Arab Region and which remained in isolation from it and in conflict often described as a conflict of civilizations. Indeed, there has also been a political militarily conflict. Secondly, the Camp David Accords were the beginning of the peace treaties between ”Israel” and other Arab states.

Therefore, ”Israel” had to improve its treatment in order to encourage the rest of the Arab World to establish dialog with it. Third: international peace treaties represent a serious international tool under all circumstances, and they have always been a way towards bringing about changes and modifications in the conditions of their parties, if not in the circumstances of the whole world. Therefore, some have described them as ’few occurrences in human history’. However, each time a peace treaty occurred, it was a sign of great change and development.
This study consists of a preface that deals with the beginning of the Egyptian-Israeli conflict since Egypt’s participation in the 1948 “Palestine War”, the 1956 Tripartite Aggression on “Egypt”, the Israeli Aggression on “Egypt” in 1967 and Egypt’s recognition of the State of “Israel”. Finally, this chapter offers the status of tourism in “Egypt” throughout the period before the October War in 1973.
Chapter One tackles the October War of 1973, Egyptian-Syrian cooperation in the war, and Egypt’s preparation for the war, the role of the “United States” and the “Soviet Union” to resolve the Egyptian-Israeli conflict and the Egyptian-Israeli negotiations till the “Geneva” Conference. It also deals with the peace negotiations between “Egypt” and “Israel”, which was in the form of the first and second disengagement agreements, and the continuing Soviet-American attempts to find a compromise.
Chapter Two deals with Sadat’s surprise with his visit to “Jerusalem” and its results, the visit of “Begin” to “Ismaïlia”, the visit of the “United States” President “Jimmy Carter” to “Egypt” and the announcement of the “Aswan Statement”. At the end of the chapter, the situation of tourism in “Egypt” after the October War of 1973 till the signing of the Peace Treaty between “Egypt” and “Israel” is also given.
Chapter Three discuss the invitation of President “Carter” to both “Sadat” and “Begin” to “Camp David” in order to reach a peace treaty. It highlights the Egyptian-Israeli negotiations and reaching two frameworks for peace, one for peace in the Middle East and the other for peace between “Egypt” and “Israel”. During the negotiations, there were many differences between the Egyptian and Israeli delegations. Thanks to President “Carter”, negotiations were completed and a peace treaty was signed between “Egypt” and “Israel”.
Chapter Four analyses the treaty of peace between Egypt and Israel. It also offers the Arabs’ reaction to Egypt’s signing of the Peace Treaty, the results of this treaty, the Egyptian-Israeli relations and Egyptian-American ones after the treaty and the position of the Soviet Union from the treaty. Finally, it shows the situation of tourism in “Egypt” after the signing of the Treaty.
