Abstract

1- A total of 240 dead chickens were subjected to postmortam and bacteriological examinations for possible recovery Salmonellas. ”Nine” different salmonella serotypes viz, s.miami, s.typhi-murium var capenhagen, s.banalia, s.paratyphi A, s.typhi-mrium, s.gatuni, s.arecharaleta s.galiema and s.presov were isolated at a recovery rate of 8.33% (20 isolates).
2- In this study 1145 faecal cloacal swabs were collected from diseased and apparently healthy chickens and examined bacteriologyically for salmonells isolation. ”Eleven” different salmonella serotypes namely: S.hessarek, S.orion, S.thompson, S.typhi-murium, S.miami, S.canada, S.arechavaleta, S.paratyphi B, S.enteritidis, S.sendai and S.fulica were isolated at a recovery rate of 3.69% (42 isolates).
3- In the present investigation S.hessarek, S.miami, S.typhi-murium var copenhagen S.banalia, S.canada, S.arechavaleta, S.paratyphi A, S.paratyphi B, S.sendai, S.fulica, S.gatuni, S.galiema and S.presov are recorded for the first time from chickens in Egypt.
