Abstract

The present thesis involves the functionality of different thioamides (including aroyl thiourea, aroyl thiocarbohydrazide and thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives) as an important class of electron donors toward electron acceptors for the purpose of synthesis of different novel heterocycles involving; thiazolidin-4-one, 1,3-thiazepine, oxathiazole, thieno[2’,3’:4,5]- pyrimido[2,1-b][1,3]thiazole, thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-2-yl-thioacrylate and thieno[2’,3’:4,5]- pyrimido[2,1-b][1,3]thiazin-6-one derivatives. The prepared compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against Hep-G2 cells and HCT-116 cell lines, T-lymphocytes and macrophages proliferation and for their antioxidant activity through measuring their scavenging activity against the artificial radical DPPH. The dissertation is divided into four main sections; the introduction section displays summarized information about thioamides, their reactivity, synthesis, their utility in heterocyclic syntheses and their biological activities. The second section is the scope of investigation; it shows the main objectives of synthesis and design of different targeted compounds. The third section is devoted to discuss and describe the obtained results; the section is subdivided into two sections. The first one describes the discussion of different methods used for the preparation of different compounds. The second one describes the discussion of the biological activities of the newly synthesized compounds including anticancer activity against Hep-G2 cells and HCT-116 cell lines, T-lymphocytes and macrophages proliferation and antioxidant activity through measuring their scavenging activity against the artificial radical DPPH. Most of the prepared compounds exhibited promising biological results. The fourth section of the dissertation is concerned with the experimental part; the section is subdivided into two parts, the first one is concerned with the different methods used for the preparation of the intermediates and finally targeted compounds. The second part is concerned with the different experimental biological procedures used for measuring the anticancer and antioxidant activities of the prepared compounds.
