Abstract
Agents that disrupt celluar redox balance may cause accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ros)leading to cellular damage a key target of ROS in cells is the DNA.ROS induced DNA damage occurs in the form of base modifications apurinic (Ap)Sites and DNA Strand Breaks Persistence of Ros induced DNA damage could results in the generation of deleterious mutations Therefore prompt repair of the damaged DNA or alternatively the elimination of cells bearing these oxidative lesions is vital to the maintenace of genomic interity of the organism.
