Abstract

Energy conservation is considered as one of the main factors affects operating cost and its rate increase rapidly in the present time, at higher rate than the other variable costs. The power requirements of compact spinning frames represent the major part of the total power in a spinning mill.
Many researches were carried out to determine the factors affecting the energy consumption in ring spinning machines and several improvements have been made in the design of spinning machine to increase spindle speed, package size and efficiency of the machine. The introduction of compact spinning needs more investigation to determine the power requirements for each system of compact spinning.
In this work analysis of the power requirement for compact spinning machine and an equation was deduced to calculate the specific energy in the case of compact
yarn.
A computer program was designed to calculate it. The optimum size of the
package as well the optimum spindle speed was deduced as a function of spinning machine parameters taken into consideration the spinning processing parameters.
The experimental and theoretical results show that compact spinning requires more power than that of traditional ring spinning and the specific energy consumption depends on yarn count and spindle speed.
