Abstract The existence of wild herb legumes at Beni-Suef Governorate, Egypt, was investigates. species were identified and studied. the growth, distribution and nitrogen fixation of the recorded wild herb legumes, in relation to the prevailing enviromnetal conditions, were studied. ten wild herb legumes (nine annual and one perennial)were recorded in the studied area. the recorded species are the following : melilotus indicus, M.siculus, Trifolium resupinatum, Medicago Polymorpha, M. intertexta, Vicia satIVA, v.MONANTHA, tRIGONELLA hamosa, Lathyrus hirsutus and Lotus corniculatus. The recorded herb legumes were existed in four different habitats: cultivated land, salt-affected land, reclaimed land and canal bank habitats. The phenology of each leguminous species was taken into consideration. |
