Abstract
In the present investigation a series of quaternary iminium salts where prepared with alkyl chain length of C12, 16 and 18. The structure of synthesized products was confirmed using FTIR, mass spectra and 1H-NMR.
The prepared cationic surfactants were evaluated by studying their surface properties particularly surface and interfacial tensions, the critical micelle concentration (CMC) values were determined using, surface tension method. These values indicate that they have very good surface characteristics. The effect of temperature and the alkyl chain length and their effect on surface properties were studied. It was found that increasing the alkyl chain length and temperature lead to decreasing the CMC values of prepared compounds.
