Abstract

Acacia species dominate extensive regions of arid and semi-arid ecosystems in Africa and the Middle Eastt. they play major role in structing associated plant communities by modifying solar radition, soil moisture and nutrient concentrations available to understorey plants, and affact the distribution and abundance of animal species by providing a variety of resources and services including shade anf shelter .
The main objectives of the present study is to detect the changes in Acacia tortilis populations and their causes in southeren Sinia by the integration of Remote Sensing, GIS and field observation, thus contribuating to sustainable management of this important species .
