Abstract The aim of this essay is to give up-dated review of the problem of poor response, possible pathogenesis, prediction, diagnosis and management, during controlled ovarian stimulation in ART. The term poor responders has been used to define women who require large doses of stimulation medications and who make less than an optimal number of eggs. There is no uniform definition of poor responders, but many authors have used cut off of less than four mature oocytes at the time of HCG or a peak estradiol of less than 500 pg/ml (William, 2004). The term poor responders may emerge during controlled ovarian hyperstimulation(COH),whether during Intrauterine insemination(IUI) ,in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI). |
