Abstract The main task of the present thesis is concerned with the enhancement of UV- protection and anti-microbial properties of knitted cotton fabrics as well as extent of dye fixation especially in case of using natural dyes to cope with the increasing needs for multifunctional textile articles. Factors affecting the above mentioned properties such as fabric structure, pretreatment history, type and concentration of metal salt, treatment conditions, as well as nature and concentration of the used dye, in addition to the durability to wash have been examined. The used options are very promising, simple and practical for full-white, natural dyeings as well as anionic dyeings with remarkable protection properties against the harmful UV-radiation and hazardous microorganisms. Key Words: Knitted cotton fabrics, Pretreatment, Natural dyeing, Anionic dyeing, UV-Protection, Antibacterial finish. |
