Abstract
This work is concerned with the stratigraphy (litho. and bio.) and the microfacies of the Miocene sequence outcropping in Sudr-Gharandal area, West Sinai. The recognized stratigraphic units are the Nukhul, Rudeis, Kareem and Belayim Formations. The depositional enviro¬nment of each of these units was approached through the application of frequency analysis method of microfacies data. Besides, three biostratigraphic marker horizons are suggested. These horizons are namely Spatangus pustulous Wright -Schizaster (Paraster) lovisatoi (Cotteau) horizon, Aturia aturi (Bast.) horizon and the Ectfinocvamus stellatus (Capd.) horizon.
