Abstract This work aimed to study the effects of some postpartum anestrous on fertility of dairy cows and its economic importance. The animals were divided into 4 groups: Group 1: Cows affected with postpartum pyornetra (no. =67). Divided into: 1. Treatment 1 (21 cows) each animal was injected 2 doses of 500 tg intramuscularly cloprostenol the first at day 50tui and the second at day 61St postpartum 2. Treatment 2 (20 cows) each animal received two injections of 500 tg intramuscularly cloprostenol at day 50t1 and 6I’ postpartum and intrauterine infused 2 grn (40 ml) oxytetracycline 5% at day 55th, and 66th postpartum. 3. Treatment 3 (19 cows) each animal received two injections of 500 tg intramuscularly cloprostenol at day 50th and 61st postpartum and intrauterine infused cefapirin benzathine at day 55th and 66th postpartum. 4. Control (7 cows) each animal was injected 2 ml saline intramuscular (placebo) at 50t1i and 6l postpartum. This study revealed that, the use of PGF2ci + Oxytetracycline 5% for postpartum pyornetra treatment achieves best results. It had significantly lower days open (127.70) day, calving interval (407.70) day. In addition, it had significantly lower services per conception (1.75), higher 1 service conception rate (55%) and two services conception rate (75%). The control animal did not recover, no one of them showed signs of estrous and were culled. |
