Abstract

Junk food considered the most common spread foods in our society and it is known with it is hazard on hea lth especially children health.junk food consumption has been associated with higher total energy intake and higher intake of fat,saturated fat,carbohydrates ,sugar,and carbonated soft drinks and lower intake of m icronutrients and fruit and vegetables Also,studies have found significant associations between fast food consumption and increased BMI,increased body weight and a higher probability of being overweight.Overwe ight children are m ore likely to become experience associat ed chronic diseases such as Type 2 diabetes,heart disease,stroke and some cancers. Therefore this study aim ed to evaluate the effect of having some commercial junk foods and com pare it with som e junk foods supplemented by beta-carotene on the children health.Seventy child at age 6-12 years of age were chosen using random technique from prim ary school fro m Minufiya Governate and were divided in to seven groups and each groups consist of (10 child) according the following Group (1):Control (without having any junk foods).Group (2):Children had 24 g/day of commercial chips. Group (3):Children had 24 g/day of com mercial chips +200 m l/day of lemon juice Group (4):Children had 24 g/day of processed potato chips Group (5):Children had 24g/day processed potato+beta carotene Group (6):Children had 24/day of snacks.Group (7):Children had 24/day of snacks +200 ml/day of lemon juice.
