المستخلص

This study aims at shedding lights on the following:— The capaoity and trend of both production arad consumption of oils and fats at the world and local level.
Describing the world trade pattern of oils in order to iden— lify the tiends and importance of different oils, and the main exporting and importing countries.
Describing marketing and pricing systems of oil especially at
• local level in such away to clearfy the marketing channels of oils and its optimum distribution pattern, describing also price movements end trendsat the world market levels with analysis of seasonal price changes.
The results of this study indicate the followin&:—
Soya beans, cottonseed, sunflowerseed, sesarneseed, rabeseod, peanut, linseed, coconut, safflowerseed, are the main sources
• of edible oils. U.S.A. is the major producing country of Soya beans, China of cottonseed, peanut and rabeseed and philippines for coconut.
Edible oils represent about 77%, of the world total production of oils, during the period(1981/1982—1986/1987). The production of soya been oil ammounted for about 13.2 mellion tons, camper— ing by 6.o million tons for palm 911, 5.5 million tons for sun— flowrseed oil, 5.0 million tons for rabeseed oil 3.5 million tons for cottonseed oil, 2.7 million tons for both of peanuts oil and coconuts and 0.8 million ton for palm kernen oil.
• In Egypt, although cotton concedered to be the major source f oils, the estinwted statistical trend for annual cottonseed ii production during the priod (1973—1985) indicated that the rend is negatively sloping and decrease at an annual rate of bout 5 thousand tonsOn the other hand the production of soya ean oil increased at an annual rate of about 2.9 thousand tons.
At consusption side, soya bean oil represented about 31% of kota1 world consumption of edible oils, while that of palm oil unf1owerseed oil, rabeseed oil, represented about 15%, 14%,and 13%
