المستخلص
This study aimed at achieving two main objectives:
the first one is concerned with learning about the present status of agriculture in the Egyptian economy and the second concentrates on its future.
The investigator has used in this study analytical procedures which included those of descriptive, statisti— cal and mathematical nature.
This study consists of S chapters.
The first chapter deals with reviewing the literature of the important scientific studies pertaining to our subject.
The second chapter focuses upon the major features which distinguish the status of Egyptian agricultural economy which revealed the following:
— A decrease in the percentage of the agricultural population from 62 in 1960 to 42 in 1987
— The structure of the agricultural economy is characterized with size farming units to the extent that those below 5 feddans constitute about 52.5 of the total cultited area.
— The cultivated land area remained relatively the same below 6 million feddans during the study period.
