Abstract The present study was oaried out with the aim of obtainji t infonnatioñ on the response of field bes (Ii.pia faba L.) irrigation frequency, population density and nitrogen rtilizer as well as their interactions under perennial system irrigation. This work was conducted at the Ariculturai search Station of Assiut University during 1979/1980 and 80/1981 seasons using the fababean variety Giza 2. Therefore, ree variables were studied as follows: Irrigation frequenoy; which condueted by watering at 70, ID and 30% F.C. Population density which was detenninod by planting fababeai on double—row, system with spcoings of 5, 10 and 15 cm between hills with two and four plants/hill for each. Nitrogen retes at 0.0, 10.0 pjd 15.0 1cc/fed. .these variables were aned in a Factorial Randomized plete Block Design. The results obtaining during this cours study could be summarize as follows: Plant height tended to be increased with increase irrigatio frequency during the early stages of growth; i.e. up to 70 days after sowing. Four plants per hill increased plant height as compared with two plants within each spacing. However, this increase was more pronounced at wider spacing Nitrogen did not affect plant height. |
