The risk factors of burst abdomen can be predicted early and their number can be decreased before and after surgery by an experienced surgeon , leading to a lowered incidence of wound failure. The principles which should be considered during the reconstruction of the anterior abdominal wall including-The superiority of tension-free repair versus primary suture repair for the larger defects.
