Abstract

The aim of this study is to assess different immunological markers correlation with diagnosis of Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and lupus nephritis and if they reflect the disease activity. Methods Sixty SLE patients and 30 healthy individuals were rolled in this study. Blood samples were collected to evaluate serum levels IL-10 and anti-C1q antibodies using ELISA. Results Patients with lupus nephritis had a statistically significant higher titers of serum IL-10 and anti-C1q antibodies levels compared with both SLE patients without lupus nephritis and control group and patients without lupus nephritis had a statistically significant higher titers compared with control group. Conclusion IL-10 and anti-C1q antibodies levels were significantly higher in SLE patients than in normal subjects. They were significantly higher in patients with nephritis than those without nephritis. IL-10 and anti-C1q antibodies may play a role in diagnosis and monitoring lupus nephritis, these antibodies appear to be necessary but not sufficient for the occurrence of lupus nephritis.
