Abstract

As there is an economic increasing demand for the natural gas as clean fuel source, the dehydration process is considered the main process before introduced the natural gas in sales gas line, that it is prevent hydrate formation problems and restricted the water content in the sales gas that it is reduce the corrosion problem during transportation and further processing. Optimum operating in glycol dehydration unit was studied in order to produce sales gas with the lower available dew point. Inlet gas temperature, TEG concentration, TEG circulation rate & reboiler temperature are the studied parameters to get the minimum sales gas dew point. The effect of many operating conditions in the glycol dehydration process was studied for different gas flow rate with the same average composition; flow (a), flow (b), flow(c) and flow ((1) which refer to inlet gas flow rate to contactor: 46, 43, 40&37 MMSCF respectively. Two empirical equations were concluded by investigated the collected data. Correlation was established using a high quality mathematical computer program called “Regression analyzer, version 3.2”, The first equation is to calculate the outlet sales gas dew point from the gas flow rate and operating conditions: Gas out let dew point =l.82 E3 + 0.24 Q + 0.58 TG - 18.7 C1- 4.27 R1 - 0.00083 TR Eq. (1) With R-sq = 95.65% Another equation to calculate total unit utilities cost by knowing the gas flow rate and operating conditions as by the following: Utilities cost = -7.03 E3 +7.42 Q + 12.1 TG + 56.739 C1+ 87.18 R1 - 0.003371 TR Eq. (2) With R-sq = 97.3% Where: Q = Gas flow rate MMSCF, TG, = Gas inlet temperature. °F,C1 = Glycol concentration wt%.,R1 = Glycol rate gallon /lb water removed,TR = Reboiler temperature, ° F. The optimum operating conditions for the glycol dehydration case as followin Gas feed flow Rate( MMSCFD) a b c d 46 43 40 37 Contactor pressure, psig. 1330 Inlet gas temperature, ° F 72 TEG concentration,wt% 99.5 TEG circulation rate gallon glycol/1b water removed 4.5 Reboiler temperature, ° F 380 Actual gas dew point, °F -13 -14 -15 -17 Calculated gas dew point, °F -10 -11 -11 -13.
