Abstract
The tympanic membrane consists of three layers: outer, middle and inner layers. It has an oval shape and is approximately 9 mm wide and 11 mm high. Blood vessels enter the tympanic membrane through the superior external auditory canal skin (the vascular strip) as well as circumferentially from around the fibrous annulus.
