Abstract

Results obtained from this investigation could be summarized as
follows:
1. Incidence of root rot disease of pepper was surveyed on plants of
different cultivars grown in commercial fields at different five
governorates representing many localities under investigation
during 2005 and 2006 successive seasons.
2. The isolated fungi were purified and identified as Fusarium solani,
Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium semitectum, Fusarium
aveniceaum, Macrophomina phaseolina, Rhizoctonia solani,
Alternaria spp. and Trichoderma spp.
3. Macrophomina phaseolina was the most frequently isolated
fungus during 2005 and 2006 seasons. 227 isolate of this fungus
were isolated and comprised 26.52% of total isolated fungal
isolates (856 isolates). R. solani showed the second rank of
frequency (210 isolates comprised 24.53%).
4. Fusarium solani, Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium semitectum and
Fusarium aveniceaum were isolated with 81, 97,101 and 88
isolates with percentages 9.46, 11.33, 11.80 and 10.28%,
respectively. While, the rest of fungi showed the lowest frequency.
