Abstract
This is an interventional study which was conducted in Zagazig University out patient urology clinic during the period from April to October 2010 on 85 women aged 18 years and older complaining of at least ten episodes of UI per week.
The aim of this study: is to determine the impact of urinary incontinence on the affected women’s quality of life, and to improve quality of life of women with urinary incontinence through the following:
Objectives:
1-Identify risk factors that may contribute to UI.
2-Determine the impact of UI on women’s life.
3-Improve impact of UI on quality of women’s life through health education program on conservative management of UI.
Data were collected through:
A constructed interview questionnaire that covers the following areas: Sociodemographic characteristics of studied women, Obstetrical history of studied patients, data about the present illness and the potential medical or surgical contribution of UI.
The second questionnaire was to determine the type, frequency and severity of UI using the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire–Short Form (ICIQ-SF).
The King health questionnaire describe the impact of UI on the quality of life.
Health education program was performed by face to face method and the message included some information about UI and conservative treatment.
