Abstract

ABSTRACT
Four trials were conducted to evaluate the effect of Garlic, Fenugreek, a mix of Garlic and Fenugreek and a mix of Biogen and Selenium plus Vit.E and Vit.C on the reproductive performance of Nile tilapia fish (Oreochromis niloticus).
The experiment was carried out during were 220 ± 8 g and 180 ± 6 g for Males and Females respectively. Fish stocked in each trial in the spawning season of Oreochromis niloticus using 3000 fish were one year old, the weight of fish 3 concrete ponds (3m x 8m x 1.2m) – sex ratio was 3♀ : 1♂ .Fish were fed the experimental diets at the rate of 3% of their total body mass, contained 30.28% CP, 8.15% EE and GE 3.70 K.cal/g (control diet). Fish fed control diets with addition of 1% Fenugreek (T1),1% Garlic(T2), a mixed from 0.5% Fenugreek and 0.5% Garlic (T3) and 0.1% of Biogen with 0.1% of Selenium and Vit.E plus 0.01% Vit.C (T4) in trial 1,2,3 and 4 respectively.
Results showed that spawning rate of females was increased 200%, 120%, 250% and 600% in T1, T2, T3 and T4 respectively compared to the control. Number of fry/female was increased 215.5%, 129.3%. 301.72% and 603.1% in T1, T2, T3 and T4 respectively compared to the control. Eggs number/female was increased to 211.7%, 122.4%, 287.2% and 603.44% in T1, T2, T3 and T4 respectively compared to the control. Hatching rate was increased to 101.8%, 105.6%, 105% and 104.9% in T1, T2, T3 and T4 respectively compared to the control. Also the relative fecundity was 0.57, 0.34, 0.8 and 1.59 for T1, T2, T3 and T4 respectively and was 0.26 for the control. The economical evaluation showed that Trial 4 which received diet contained Biogen and Selenium plus Vit.E and Vit.C was the best in economic efficiency.
